Our babies are growing up.
I'm a little sad about it, I won't lie.
The last time I got really sentimental about our kids growing up was BEFORE we had a 3rd baby. As you can imagine, that problem solved itself with the surprise addition of another tiny person (while simultaneously proving that cycle tracking apps should never be trusted when you’re having one of those “our kids are growing too fast!” impulsive moments of motherhood).
Since I'm now officially out of the baby-making phase of life (thanks to my husband kindly "taking one for the team"), I'll just have to settle for reminiscing over the several thousand photos I’ve got saved in my Google drive, therapeutically eating some ice cream, and requesting some extra snuggles from my now very wiggly, mobile, opinionated children.
I know it sounds cliche, but I honestly look at photos I took just a year or so back and I’m in AWE of how quickly our kids have changed. I feel like they just had chubby cheeks, wispy baby hair, and were toddling around the house, and suddenly, here they are casting their own fishing line, doing backflips off my couch, and reading ME a story at bedtime. ::Sigh:: Stop growing, please.
Last year, our oldest made the transition from preschool to kindergarten. We never doubted she was ready – she’s always been our social butterfly; very eager to make new friends, learn new things, take on the world: Your standard “firstborn” personality. She was the kid who – instead of crying on her first day of preschool – quite literally sprinted into the classroom with barely a “bye mom!”
This coming May, our 4 (soon-to-be 5) year-old will make his walk across the church stage in a sweet little graduation cap and gown to complete his first of many commencements into the next stage of life. He’s our cautious one. Our shy guy. A little nervous about new things; Likes the routine, safe option; Not the most eager to venture into the unknown. And even though I’m sure he’s gonna love kindergarten, it still tugs at the heartstrings to see him slowly but surely growing up and needing us less and less.
So just like last year with our oldest, I’m planning to take some photographs to commemorate his first big graduation! If you’re interested in photos of your little one's graduation from preschool, kindergarten, etc., I’d be glad to take some for you, too! I’ve got a black graduation cap with a “2024” tassel ready to go!
I’ll be offering 10–15-minute mini sessions in a similar setting as the photos below. Sessions will cost $125+ tax and will yield digital download and printing rights for 10 photos to be selected from an edited gallery (with the option to upgrade to the whole gallery for an additional $25). $60 will be due at the time of booking as a non-refundable retainer, and the remaining $72 (includes sales tax) will be due at the time of your session in cash. Contact me here to schedule your date and time!
Congrats to the class of 2024!
