There are a few things in this world that I really, really like...

And dogs are one of those things. Especially the big ones.

And if they're of the sporting variety, that's even better! We've been a bird hunting family for a decade now and there's something really special about watching a bird dog out in the field, doing just what they're made to do. I don't even take a gun anymore! I let my husband do the hunting and I just photograph the dogs and get all the puppy snuggles.

I also love babies. They're smushy and cute. A little exhausting and smelly sometimes, but oh so sweet! Put the two together and it's the perfect recipe for some of the sweetest photos I've ever taken.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to take photos for friends of ours who recently welcomed a sweet baby boy. I had the pleasure of taking photos for them for their pregnancy announcement last fall and couldn't wait to capture their new arrival.

They also have two Weimaraners, one of which might just have a modeling career in his future...

If you're not familiar with Weims, they're beautiful, tall, silver dogs. They're very intelligent, attached to/obsessed with their "people," and known for their high energy, connection with their owners, and dramatic, almost human-like personalities.

Well, it was clear from the moment I walked in on Saturday morning that Cooper thought the shoot was scheduled for him.

He took full advantage of having a new person in the house. He showed me his baby's nursery, demanded some bum scratches, and then became easily the most photographed dog of any newborn session I've ever done - flaunting his good looks and interjecting himself into a whole LOT of the photos we took. When he wasn't actually IN the room with us, he was waiting patiently, RIGHT on the other side of the door, for his next opportunity to get in front of the camera. He even kindly brought us his "puppy" toy to photograph! I think he's gonna make a FINE big brother for his new little human! Enjoy some photos from "Cooper's session" below!
